Christmas Break in Tallahassee

The Friends of Internationals ministries at USF and FSU will hold a joint retreat in Tallahassee for their students on December 10-12. This retreat includes staying in an American home, participating in a Christmas party, attend a church service with your American host home, visiting various places in Tallahassee including the Florida state Capital building and the Florida State Caverns. Clemson Christmas Home Visit

The Clemson Friends of Internationals club is setting up home visits for students and scholars who would like to stay in an American home during the upcoming Christmas semester break. Students and scholars will be hosted by an American family for a few days between December 17th and January 1st. Most American homes will have a Christmas tree, family visits, and spend time relaxing with friends. Thanksgiving is celebrated in most American homes by hosting a large family gathering. Many Americans are open to inviting others to join them in the meal. If you would like to be part of an American Thanksgiving dinner in the Tampa area, please complete the online application at Friends of Internationals. Tampa Int’l Bonfire-Thanksgiving

The Tampa Friends of Internationals will be hosting a Thanksgiving Bonfire party on Saturday November 19th at 1010 Center Lake Burrel Dr, in Lutz, FL. The party will begin at 5 pm and continue until the middle of the evening. All international students and their family and friends at USF are invited to attend and asked to bring a food dish to share with others. It is not required that you bring food with you, just let them know that you are coming to the event. Please register for the event: HERE

The party will host a very large lakeside fire, multiple group games, and the telling of the American Thanksgiving story. Please see Friends of Internationals at USF for further details and other events.

Clemson Thanksgiving Home Visit

International Students at Clemson University are being offered an opportunity to stay with an American family during the upcoming Thanksgiving Break. Students will be assigned a family to stay with a family from Wednesday afternoon to Sunday afternoon November 23-27. Up to 2 students will stay in homes.

During the visit, the American family will explain their understanding of Thanksgiving and how they practice it. Students will enjoy making a possible long-term friendship with the family, talking with them about their family, lives, and attend a church service with them on Sunday. Most American families will serve a traditional turkey meal on Thanksgiving as well as many unique side dishes which may be served only on Thanksgiving.

Charleston SC Spring Break Trip

On March 19th-21st the Friends of Internationals club at Clemson University is offering Clemson international students and scholars a trip to historic Charleston, SC. This Spring Break trip will include cultural visits to the Charleston area and include many historical sites. American college students who are interested in befriending internationals will be joining the trip. A duplicate second trip is also being offered on March 22-24 for those who cannot make the first trip.

Atlanta Asian Market Trip

Friends of Internationals at Clemson University will host a trip to the Atlanta Asian market on Saturday January 14th. This trip will begin at 8 am at the Victoria Square across the street from the Clemson Post Office. Places included in this visit will be the Tanger Outlet stores in Commerce, Georgia and the Asian and South Asian Super Markets in North Atlanta, Georgia. The buses to the markets will return to Clemson by 6 PM. Americans will join with internationals on this trip.
